Every so often the time comes when you need to make something simple, something small, something that makes you say to yourself, “my, I am clever!” and this is one of those projects. It’s a pickle. More specifically, it’s a pickle shaped Christmas ornament. Now, before you call the loony bin and lock me up for making a pickle, let me explain.
The pickle ornament is a part of a 20 ornament collection of knitting patterns I bought so that I could whip up some cute ornaments as gifts and to sell at a craft fair (Christmas themed, of course) that happens later this year. But why a pickle?
There is a German tradition that states, “if you hide a pickle ornament deep in your tree on Christmas Eve, the first person to find it the next more gets good luck for a whole year!” (source) Even though the traditional pickles were glass, these cute knitted pickles should do the trick! I hope to have more ornaments to share soon!
