About two weeks ago I got free yarn from one of the girls in my knitting group. She had purchased a large box from Goodwill that was teeming with yarn. So she took what she wanted and offered the rest to us. I chose this beautiful gray and sky blue bulky yarn. This picture makes it look more green than blue, but the light in my dinning room is really yellow. Anyway, there is enough yarn to make a neck warmer and a pair of mittens. There is a great possibility that there might even be enough to eek out a hat as well. I have a few small things I need to finish up first and then it’s on to neck warmer heaven! I am also excited because the pattern I have chosen for this yarn requires a crocheted edge. I have been meaning to learn to crochet, but have always been a little timid about it. Perhaps doing something small will allow me to see what crochet is like without committing to an entire project.
I know it seems strange to be thinking about mittens and neck warmers in May, but somehow I cannot help myself. I keep thinking of crisp autumn days and cold winter knits and I want to knit my fingers to the bone so that I can have warm mushy things to wear.
