This [past weekend my very generous neighbor and her awesome husband took me to Stitches Midwest! It was a four day event but we only went one day due to scheduling issues. It was so much fun! There was so much to see and so much to do! Karen (my lovely neighbor) signed up for a class but her good friend Nancy, her husband Tom, and I spent the whole day wandering the Market Place. There were over 150 vendors and easily over 1000 people there! I was good and stuck to my budget! I only bought one batt of fiber and two skeins of yarn (enough to make a poncho! Woohoo!) I got to use a spinning wheel for the first time! The person who helped me was very kind and once I dig out all the business cards I collected I will give you their shop name and website because they were very generous! I also found out that I NEED to knit a cape! I didnt even know that until I saw one on a dress makers dummy! But it looks like there is a cape and a lot of spinning in my future!! I will post a longer update with pictures of the things I bought and shop names soon! I’m still recovering!
And yesterday I finished this:
That’s right! I finished the Chinook Shawl!!!! This is my first “real” lace project and my first shawl! I’m very proud of the way it turned out! Here are some other pictures of the shawl before and after blocking.
Sadly there are no pictures from Stitches Midwest because there was no photography allowed!
