My roommate, good friend who is staying over, and I decided that we should participate in Earth Hour. So five minutes before the clock struck half past eight, we ran frantically around the house unplugging things and turning off lights. We lit candles and if you had seen us (I didn’t think to take a picture) you would have seen three geeks huddled around some candles. One was reading a Batman comic, one was reading a pdf file on his laptop (it was unplugged), and I was knitting. I started my second Nutkin sock yesterday and thought I could knit that while we were giving the Earth a much needed break but come to find out we only had two candles, so I ended up working on my Union Square Poncho from Weekend Knits because it was the easiest thing I had available. Sadly, my poncho is black. So while it was easy to knit it was kind of hard to see. But we did our part and celebrated Earth Hour. We were having so much fun we decided to sit in the dark for awhile longer after Earth Hour was over. But it was so nice. It really made me want to turn everything off at least once a week.
